Worked as a consultant for a host of projects and activities implemented by Government agencies and supported by bilateral and multilateral donors. Duties mainly include policy and program planning and management of development projects, coordination of social sector activities targeted to human resource development, employment generation, livelihoods skill development, financial and economic analysis, population and labor force projection, liaison with government agencies and NGOs, capacity building of partner local NGOs and community based institutions, information management, monitoring and evaluation using tools like survey, PRA and FGD, baseline surveys and thematic studies and so forth. These projects mainly dealt with land settlement, physical infrastructures (protection against flood, cyclone, salinity intrusion, water and sanitation and human security), agricultural, social, economic and institutional development of the people, particularly the poor, women and youth. Among the agencies worked with are WFP, FAO, DGIS, DFID, CIDA, SDC, NORAD, German Technical Cooperation, IFPRI and so forth. 

Worked with FAO in different capacities, (a) as Monitoring & Evaluation Adviser for a project on Enhancing Food and Nutrition Security and Reducing Disaster Risk Through the Promotion of Conservation Agriculture implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries of the Government of Timor-Leste with technical support of FAO; (b) as Team Leader to develop a masterplan for agricultural development and resource management in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT); (c) as Economist to prepare a masterplan for the southern region  of Bangladesh (14 coastal districts).

Worked with a host of NGOs as staff and consultant to carry out specific tasks/studies. Among these NGOs are BRAC, Community Development Library, Bangladesh Freedom Foundation (BFF), Caritas-Bangladesh, Christian Commission for Development in Bangladesh (CCDB), South Asia Partnership-Bangladesh, Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), Social Association for Rural Advancement (SARA), Niwano Peace Foundation (Tokyo), Oxfam (UK), South Asian Alliance for Poverty Eradication-SAAPE (Kathmandu), LDC Watch (Kathmandu), National Endowment for Democracy (Washington, DC), Center for Not-for-Profit Law, ICNL (Washington, DC).
